Where I live summers are full of water, so this would have to be summer. We all like going to beaches and pools, run through sprinklers, and of course, deal with hurricanes. We have water everywhere.

Second of the four I'm pushing myself to do. My drawing technique is still not anywhere near other people's but I think I'm getting better at showing my ideas, at least.

Pencil, marker, and ink on normal paper.

Cool, I love the dresses

hmm, i like the gathering idea for a wave effect on the back. would it be too difficult to give the slits a subtle S curve? i know i couldn't manage the matching, but it might look nice. to move slightly towards the front and then back out to add to the billowign of the skirt? i think i'd like some more dark blue on the bottom of the dress itself. not to match the sleeves, but just to balance out the weight of the very dramatic darks on the sleeves. i really like the shape, but they feel very heavy in comparison with the dress. it seems like it could distract from the main lines.

Hrmmm... I would never have come up with the idea of an S curve on the slits. That would definitely be an interesting twist.

I was planning on the sleeve attachments being done with a chiffon type fabric, so they wouldn't be quite so heavy in comparison to the dress. Only I can't seem to make that come across on paper very well. Looks like I have to practice more.

hmm. you using colored pencils? try lifting some of the color out with a kneadable eraser. might leave the tone and shade mostly intact but give a feel of translucence.

Amazing design! I love it. It really evokes dreams of swimming pools in summer. I especially like the texture and color of the fabric. I hope you can find something like that and really sew it!
You and me both!

At some point I will probably make this as one of my special projects that keeps me happy and gleeful between the 'normal' things that I try to sell. Of course, I need to master the arts of applique first..... after unpacking. *grin*

Thank you so much!
